Hoke County Sees a Building Boom

When I first lived in Fayetteville in the early 90's, Hoke County seemed like it was a far-off place. Not anymore! Over the years, Raeford, the city closest to Fayetteville, has continued to grow and is now in a major building boom. The Cape Fear Valley Health System recently announced the addition of a hospital in the area. FirstHealth broke ground on a new hospital as well, and the Department of Veteran's Affairs is building an outpatient center there as well. A Fayetteville Observer article this week reported that western Cumberland County and eastern Hoke County are undergoing major transformations, which is bringing new business, new jobs and new homes to the area. The Observer also stated that county housing projections for the next five years show about 4,000 new homes coming to the county. Building of the Interstate 295 loop has been underway for awhile, and it will eventually connect in with Raeford Road which will make traffic flow even better. Businesses, restaurants and shopping are all looking to expand along U.S. 401/Raeford Road as the boom continues. If you're looking for a home in an up and coming area, with lower tax rates, and a country feel, than Hoke County might be the place for you.
