Looking for someplace new to eat in good 'ol Fayetteville, NC? I highly recommend the new Memphis BBQ Co. My husband, son and I decided to check it out this past Saturday, and we were impressed. The food was delicious and our waitress, Crystal, went above and beyond to make sure we were well cared for! My husband and I both ordered a house salad to start, and they were large and fresh. He raved over the ranch dressing, while I had the balsalmic vinegrette. Yum! For our meals, we all tried something different. I opted for the Pulled Pork Baker which was a massive baked potato, piled with green onion, sour cream, cheese, and melt in your mouth, Memphis style pulled pork! It was amazing! My husband had the pulled pork plate which came with a choice of a side. He chose the potato salad which he said was great. My son had the BBQ Bacon Burger with fries, and it got high praise as well.
I just recently had seen there was a new restaurant in the old O'Charley's building. Crystal said it opened in December, but somehow I missed that. If you aren't going to Walmart, you probably have no idea it's even there. It's not a giant chain restaurant. The owners are World BBQ Champions who have been featured on the Food Network multiple times, and who wanted to bring BBQ to the general public. You can read more on their website, www.memphisbbqco.com. It's a new favorite for us and well worth a trip! Check it out... And ask for Crystal! :)

Hoke County Sees a Building Boom

When I first lived in Fayetteville in the early 90's, Hoke County seemed like it was a far-off place.  Not anymore!  Over the years, Raeford, the city closest to Fayetteville, has continued to grow and is now in a major building boom.  The Cape Fear Valley Health System recently announced the addition of a hospital in the area.  FirstHealth broke ground on a new hospital as well, and the Department of Veteran's Affairs is building an outpatient center there as well.  A Fayetteville Observer article this week reported that western Cumberland County and eastern Hoke County are undergoing major transformations, which is bringing new business, new jobs and new homes to the area.  The Observer also stated that county housing projections for the next five years show about 4,000 new homes coming to the county.  Building of the Interstate 295 loop has been underway for awhile, and it will eventually connect in with Raeford Road which will make traffic flow even better.  Businesses, restaurants and shopping are all looking to expand along U.S. 401/Raeford Road as the boom continues.  If you're looking for a home in an up and coming area, with lower tax rates, and a country feel, than Hoke County might be the place for you.  Check out these listings for Raeford and see for yourself.  There are homes to fit any budget.

New Home Sales are Up in the Fayetteville Housing Market

Good news in the local housing market! The Fayetteville Observer reported this week that new home sales were up in April in the Fayetteville / Fort Bragg area. Eleven more new homes sold in the Cumberland County area in 2012 than during this same period last year. Getting in to a new home has never been more affordable than it is right now. Mortgage rates are lower than ever, Ft Bragg NC BAH rates are up, and new homes are plentiful. Many builders are sweetening the pot with upgrades, incentives and paid closing costs in an effort to draw buyers from existing homes. Resales have been a bit slower to rebound here locally, but a report from the National Association of Realtors shows that existing home sales were up 3.4 percent across the country in April. You can search all available Fort Bragg NC real estate listings for both new construction and existing homes at pcsPads.com.
